The glass softens the light rather than directing it: consider it ambient lighting and add a reading lamp if you are installing an armchair nearby. The pink glass gives the light a warm tone.

General installation rule: in a living room, place the diffuser at the eye level of a standing person, around 160 cm, to avoid direct glare.

Material, finish and care

Clean tinted glass with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, then wipe dry to prevent streaks. On the chrome frame, avoid abrasive powders that dull the shine. Always wait for the bulb to cool completely before removing or wiping the diffuser.

Bulb and installation

The bulb is not included. The socket is a G9, and the manufacturer accepts LED, incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs operating at 110 to 240 V. No maximum wattage is specified: stick with a low-wattage G9 LED, the most common type today. The connection is made via direct wiring.

Frequently asked questions

Which glass color should I choose?

Three shades are available: white, beige and pink. White gives the most neutral and brightest light. Beige adds a slight warmth without coloring the room. Pink distinctly tints the light and works better in a bedroom than above a worktop, where the color can distort perception.

Can Sovel be used as a ceiling light?

Yes. The manufacturer states that this light fixture can be modified for either ceiling or wall mounting. In both cases, the connection remains direct wiring. Entrust this modification to an electrician, who will check that the mounting plate is securely attached to the chosen support before fixing the diffuser.

Which G9 bulb should I choose?

A G9 bulb is identified by its two closely spaced pins, with no screw or bayonet connection. LED versions run cool, making them suitable for an enclosed glass diffuser. The manufacturer does not specify a maximum wattage, but a few watts from a G9 LED is more than enough for the recommended 5 to 10 m².

Is the light from Sovel adjustable?

No, the technical sheet lists it as non-dimmable. Therefore, the manufacturer does not intend for a dimmer to be connected to this light fixture. To adjust the ambiance of a living room, instead play with the shade of the glass you order and the wattage of the G9 bulb you install.

Learn more

Glass diffusers make up an entire family in our wall light collection.
