It is best suited to a clear wall above a sideboard or at the head of a bed, where the shade casts a grazing, tinted light.

The colored glass also tints the light: the amber and brown shades create a distinctly warm effect, beige remains neutral, and green gives a cooler effect.

General installation rule: for a protruding wall light, aim to position the center of the diffuser between 1.60 and 1.75 m above the floor.

Material, finish, and maintenance

The diffuser is made of tinted glass and sits on a metal frame. Each shade changes the appearance both when lit and unlit, so this should be your first consideration. A dry microfiber cloth is all that is needed; avoid water and household cleaning products on the metal.

Bulb and installation

Lustra takes a G9 bulb. The manufacturer offers a choice between an LED and a visible filament bulb, two very different effects behind tinted glass. It connects to fixed wiring at 110 to 240 V and is controlled by a standard push-button switch, not included. Have the support and circuit checked before installation.

Frequently asked questions

Which G9 bulb should I use in Lustra?

The manufacturer accepts a G9 LED or a filament bulb with the same socket. Behind tinted glass, an LED produces a more even light, while a visible filament creates reflections and a distinct point of light. The choice therefore depends on the desired effect. Remember to check the temperature rating of the model you choose.

Which glass shade should I choose?

Amber and brown produce the warmest light and are suitable for a living room or bedroom. Beige remains the most neutral and pairs with almost any paint color. Green gives a cooler effect and works well as a contrast on a light-colored wall. All four versions have the same dimensions and socket.

How much clearance is needed from the wall?

Lustra measures 13 cm deep, 28 cm wide, and 25 cm high. It is a protruding wall light and should only be installed on clear walls. In a hallway with less than one meter of usable width or along a staircase, this protrusion can become an obstruction. Measure the available clearance before fixing the mounting plate.

Is Lustra suitable for a bathroom?

No. The stated IP20 rating means it is not waterproof and is intended for dry indoor use only. Bathroom steam is not covered by this rating. Reserve Lustra for the living room, bedroom, entrance hall, or landing. For a room with water, look for a model rated at least IP44.

For more inspiration

See also our selection of wall lights.
