No cable hangs down, making it a good choice for a living room wall, a hallway run, or a carefully framed doorway.

General installation rule: with a tube height of 34 cm, place the mounting plate about 1.70 m above the floor in a walkway so that the bottom of the glass remains above the line of sight.

Material, finish and maintenance

The glass is tinted smoked grey or amber, the body is black metal. A dry cloth is usually sufficient. If a mark persists, slightly dampen the microfiber with clean water rather than cleaner: scented products leave a film that dulls colored glass when viewed against the light.

Bulb and installation

The socket accepts E26 and E27 bases, not exceeding 40 W. The bulb is not included: a warm white LED remains the most understated, while a filament Edison bulb stands out clearly behind amber glass. Installation requires a wall cable outlet and an external wall switch, not included, to cut the power.

Frequently asked questions

Does Monroe plug into an outlet?

No. The manufacturer provides hardwired connection and an external wall switch. There is no cord or plug. If your wall has no electrical connection and you do not want construction work, ask our customer service for equivalent models supplied with a plug-in cable.

Smoked grey or amber: which one illuminates more?

Smoked grey absorbs more light and gives a more muted, almost greyed rendering. Amber transmits the beam better while warming the shade towards gold. If you are looking for truly useful auxiliary lighting in the evening, amber is the most suitable; smoked is intended more for subdued atmospheres and dark walls.

Up to what power can you go?

Forty watts maximum, the limit given by the manufacturer. With an LED, this reserve is more than sufficient: a 6 to 9 W E27 LED already covers auxiliary use. The limit mainly concerns filament bulbs, which are more power-hungry and hotter in an enclosed glass volume.

Can it be installed in a kitchen?

Yes, provided you stay away from the sink and cooking fumes. The rating is IP 20, intended for an indoor area away from moisture. On a dining area wall or above a serving counter, it is in its place; above a cooktop, no.

To go further

See the full range of wall lights in the catalog.
