It works well on its own above an entryway console, on a return wall in the living room, or at the end of a wide hallway where the offset of the two discs is clearly visible.

General installation rule: position the centre of the globe approximately 1.55 m above the floor, with at least 40 cm of clear wall space around it. Avoid installing it near a corner, which would cut off its circular silhouette.

Material, finish and care

Yellow travertine is a porous stone with a visible grain and a warm beige shade; the solid wood is available in dark walnut or a natural finish. The opal globe conceals the light source. Wipe the stone dry without using acidic products, and wipe the wood with a dry cloth without using water or wax.

Bulb and installation

The socket is a two-pin G4; the bulb is not supplied. The manufacturer states a maximum of 40 W, which is unusually high for this type of socket: we have had this checked and practically recommend a 2- to 3-W warm-white G4 LED, which is sufficient behind an opal globe.

Frequently asked questions

Which bulb should I use in the Maku wall light?

A G4 bulb, not included. We recommend a 2- to 3-W G4 LED in 2700 or 3000 K: behind an opal glass globe, it provides a warm, even light without heating the stone. Check the required G4 voltage with us before purchasing.

Which wood finish should I choose for Maku?

The dark walnut-effect wood enhances the contrast with the yellow travertine and creates a more graphic look. The light wood softens the overall appearance and remains close to the shade of the stone, creating a tonal effect. The travertine disc and globe are identical in both cases.

Is Maku suitable for a bathroom?

The manufacturer states that it is suitable for wet areas and covered outdoor spaces, but does not provide an IP rating, and both travertine and wood are susceptible to prolonged exposure to steam. We recommend installing it away from the shower and outside zones 1 and 2 of the NF C 15-100 standard.

How much space should I allow for Maku?

Allow for a disc measuring 30 cm in diameter and 25 cm high, plus a 40 cm margin of clear wall space around it so that the composition can stand out. The exact projection is not provided by the manufacturer: as a precaution, avoid installing it in a very narrow passageway.

For more options

Other material combinations in our wall light collection.
