The slim 40 cm size, by contrast, creates a vertical line, ideal for a narrow wall panel.

General installation rule: 1.50 m to 1.65 m above the floor in walkways, lower when mounted beside a bed. IP20: dry rooms only.

Material, finish and care

Travertine is a porous limestone, pitted with small cavities: its pattern varies from one piece to another. Wipe the stone and wood dry, without water or household products, which can penetrate the pores.

Bulb and installation

The socket accepts an E26 or E27 base, with an LED or exposed filament bulb. The model comes hardwired: it connects to a wall cable outlet and is switched on using a standard push-button switch, which is not supplied. Installation requires wall plugs suitable for the mounting surface.

Frequently asked questions

Which Alcarion size should I choose?

The choice depends on the available space and the desired effect. The wider sizes, up to 25 cm in diameter, illuminate a large area of wall. The smaller ones, around 10 cm, are suitable between two openings. The sizes available to order appear in the product page selector.

Which E27 bulb is suitable for this travertine wall light?

The specified base is an E26 or E27. An LED is preferable behind a stone: it produces little heat and is unlikely to affect the travertine. A warm white, around 2700 K, enhances the yellow hue of the stone, which a cool light would make look grey.

Are two Alcarion wall lights identical?

Not entirely. Travertine is cut from blocks whose cavities and veins differ. Two wall lights of the same size will share the same shape, overall hue and walnut finish, but the pattern of the stone will remain unique to each. This is the mark of natural stone.

Can Alcarion be installed in a bathroom?

No. The specified rating is IP20, for indoor use only, with no protection against water. Travertine is also porous and stains when exposed to moisture. For a bathroom, a light with at least an IP44 rating is required, installed outside the safety zones.

Discover more

Stone and wood come together in our wall light catalogue.
