The wooden band conceals the light source, so the LED is never visible from the front—only two washes of light on the wall.

This indirect lighting grazes the wall and highlights the texture of the travertine. As a general rule, mount the centre at around 1.60 m above the floor in an entrance hall or living room, or lower if the light is placed beside a bed. The cable outlet is located behind the stone block.

Material, finish and care

The backing is made of textured beige travertine with open pores. The front band is made of solid walnut, black or beige wood. Dust the stone dry with a brush if the grain traps dust, and wipe the wood with a soft cloth.

Bulb and installation

No bulb is required: the LED is built in and has a rated lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours in warm 3000 K white. The wiring is integrated and the light is wall-mounted. Have the light fitted by an electrician, as the stone block provides no access for wiring.

Frequently asked questions

How does Duka illuminate the room?

The light does not shine from the front: the wooden band closes off the front. It escapes from above and below, along the wall. This creates two indirect washes of light that sweep across the wall and reveal the texture of the travertine, with no visible light source from the sofa.

Which wood finish should I choose?

The band is available in walnut, black and beige. Walnut warms the overall look and complements the colour of the stone. Black provides a sharp contrast with the light travertine and defines the front. Beige is understated and lets the stone take centre stage, making it a good choice for already busy walls.

Can Duka be installed in a bathroom?

The manufacturer states that it is suitable for wet rooms and covered spaces, but does not provide an IP rating. In the absence of a rating, keep it out of reach of splashes: it is suitable for a bathroom wall away from the shower. For any exposed area, consult an electrician before installation.

What happens when the LED reaches the end of its life?

The module is built into the body and the product sheet does not mention any replacement. The rated lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours represents several years of daily use. In return, the light has no visible socket or grille, which explains the clean lines of the travertine block and wooden band.

Discover more

Explore different material combinations in our wall light catalogue.
