The useful rule is to match the length of the light bar to the width of the mirror: 20 cm for a small washbasin mirror, 61 or 90 cm for a double-basin mirror. The 41 cm version covers standard bathroom mirrors.

IP44 protects against splashes, not immersion: keep the light bar out of the shower and bathtub area.

General installation rule: above a mirror, allow about ten centimetres from the bottom of the light bar to the frame, between 1.90 and 2.00 m from the floor.

Material, finish and maintenance

The body and diffuser are made of white acrylic, a translucent material that softens the light and conceals the source. In the bathroom, limescale is the main enemy: wipe the light bar with a damp cloth and then dry it, without abrasive powder that would scratch the acrylic.

Bulb and installation

The SMD LED is supplied with the light fixture; no socket needs to be fitted. The stated maximum power is 59 W, for a voltage of 110 to 240 V, and the model is not dimmable. The connection is made via cable: allow for a cable outlet behind the light bar, and have the installation checked by an electrician, as is standard practice in wet rooms.

Frequently asked questions

What does Banya's IP44 rating cover?

IP44 protects against solid objects larger than one millimetre and against water splashes from all directions. This is suitable for a bathroom wall, above a washbasin or mirror. It does not cover immersion or installation within the shower area, where a higher rating is required.

What length of Banya is right for my mirror?

Start with the width of the mirror. A single washbasin mirror matches the 20 or 41 cm version. A wide mirror or double basin requires 61 or 90 cm, otherwise the edges of the mirror will remain in shadow. The manufacturer recommends the model for rooms measuring 10 to 15 m².

Cool light or warm light in front of a mirror?

Cool light renders colours more faithfully, useful for shaving or applying makeup. Warm light creates a softer atmosphere, preferable if the light bar serves as general evening lighting. The colour temperature is chosen when ordering and cannot be changed afterwards: the two variants are two distinct references.

Can Banya be used anywhere other than the bathroom?

Yes. The manufacturer also lists the bedroom and living room. A 61 or 90 cm white light bar makes good headboard or bookshelf lighting, and the IP44 rating does not prevent use in a dry room. The connection remains the same: a cable outlet at the fixing point.

For more

Compare it with our entire range of wall lights.
