Installed as a pair on either side of the bed, Selyn replaces two bedside lamps and frees up the nightstands. Its adjustable cable allows for a gap between the electrical outlet and the mounting point.

General installation rule: by the bedside, place the center of the disc between 1.30 and 1.40 m above the floor, 25 or 30 cm from the edge of the mattress, so that the beam falls on the pages without dazzling the person sleeping next to it.

Material, finish and maintenance

The metal structure has a gold or black finish; the diffuser is made of acrylic. Gold warms up a light-colored wall and complements wooden or fabric headboards, while black creates a clean graphic look. Dust with a dry microfiber cloth, without solvents that could dull the acrylic.

Bulb and installation

There is nothing to buy in terms of light source: the 9 W SMD LED is integrated, in warm white from 2700 to 3500 K. There is therefore no socket or bulb to replace. The wall light connects to 110 to 240 V and requires assembly during installation.

Frequently asked questions

Does Selyn provide enough light for reading in bed?

Its 9 W warm white LED is suitable for bedside reading in the recommended area of 10 to 15 m². The manufacturer does not provide the light output in lumens. For a double bed, two wall lights installed facing each other provide more even lighting than a single light source in the center.

Can it be connected to a dimmer?

No. The manufacturer states that the model is not dimmable and does not have smart controls. A wall dimmer installed upstream could cause the integrated LED to flicker or be damaged. Instead, plan for a simple switch, or even two separate circuits if you are installing a wall light on each side of the bed.

What is the adjustable cable for?

It allows you to adjust the available length between the junction box and the wall light. Useful when the existing cable outlet does not fall exactly at the desired height: you fix the mounting plate wherever you want and take up the slack. Connection should still be entrusted to an electrician.

Is Selyn suitable for a bathroom?

Its protection rating is IP20 and the manufacturer indicates indoor use, with no mention of damp areas. This rating does not protect against water splashes. Reserve Selyn for dry rooms, such as a bedroom, office, or hallway, and choose a model with a rated protection rating for a bathroom mirror.

Learn more

Browse the bedside formats in our selection of wall lights.
