In return, the cable remains visible and influences the choice of location.

General installation rule: 1.10 m above the floor above a headboard, 1.40 m along a corridor. At 80 cm, the bar highlights the width of a double bed; at 60 cm, it is suitable for a single bed or an office wall.

Material, finish and maintenance

Copper provides a warm reflection that complements the warm light of the LED; nickel retains a cooler appearance, which contrasts with it. The acrylic diffuser should be cleaned with warm soapy water, never with alcohol, which would cause it to crack along its length.

Bulb and installation

Nothing else to buy: the SMD LED is built-in and supplied, at 10 W for the 60 cm version and 12 W for the 80 cm version. The colour is warm and fixed, as the model is not dimmable. A dimmer fitted to the circuit could cause the light source to flicker.

Frequently asked questions

60 or 80 cm above a bed?

The 80 cm version covers the useful width of a 140 or 160 cm bed and provides a continuous band of light. The 60 cm version is sufficient for a single bed, a desk or the end of a corridor. Both are lightweight, around 0.5 kg, which limits installation constraints.

Does the mains-powered supply change the installation?

Yes, significantly: there is no need to open up the wall to install a cable outlet, as the wall light plugs into an existing socket. However, the cable route must be planned, either by leaving it visible or concealing it in a cable trunking painted to match the wall.

Can the intensity be varied?

No, the manufacturer states that the model is not dimmable. The intensity is fixed, in warm light. To adjust the atmosphere of a bedroom, it is therefore preferable to combine this bar with a second light source, such as a bedside lamp, rather than trying to dim it.

What to do when the LED reaches the end of its life?

The light source is built into the luminaire: it cannot be replaced like a screw-in bulb. This is the principle of this type of wall light. In practice, a quality SMD LED lasts several thousand hours, which means many years with moderate daily use.

For more options

Compare light bars in our range of wall lights.
