The wiring is fixed, so the electrical supply must be positioned before installation.

General installation rule: above a bathroom mirror, leave approximately 15 to 20 cm between the top of the mirror and the centre of the bar, and centre the bar on the mirror rather than on the vanity unit.

Material, finish and maintenance

Solid brass develops a patina over time and holds up well in a well-ventilated bathroom. The black version retains its appearance for longer. Wipe the bar with a soft cloth after showering to prevent limescale marks.

Bulb and installation

The sockets are E14. The manufacturer sets the limit at 15 W for incandescent bulbs or an LED with comparable light output, approximately 2 W. The light is compatible with dimmers, which are not supplied. The fixed wiring requires a cable outlet in the wall, which must be installed by an electrician.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vebilo suitable for a bathroom?

The manufacturer states that it is moisture-resistant and can be used in bathrooms or under an outdoor shelter. No numerical IP rating is provided, so it is not possible to determine exactly how far away from a shower or bath it can be installed.

Which length should I choose above a mirror?

A common approach is to choose a bar slightly shorter than the mirror. The 40 cm version suits a 50 to 60 cm mirror, while the 76 cm version suits a mirror measuring 80 cm or more. The 20 cm version remains an accent piece, useful on a narrow wall or near a door.

Which 15 W E14 bulb should I use?

Any E14 LED with a light output equivalent to a 15 W incandescent bulb is suitable, approximately 100 lumens. Bulbs are not supplied. Stay below the stated limit, especially in an enclosed body like that of the Vebilo, to prevent heat build-up.

Can it be connected to an existing dimmer?

The manufacturer states that it is compatible with dimmers, but no dimmer is supplied. You will also need an E14 bulb rated for dimming and a dimmer with a load range that accepts such a low wattage. Many older dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs do not dim low enough.

For more options

See other sizes in our range of wall lights.
