Brass covers both the body and the diffuser.

This flat shape occupies the wall without protruding into the room. Its 12 cm projection is still suitable for a hallway, provided there is enough wall width.

General installation rule: centre the disc at around 1.60 m from the floor on a clear wall, or 25 to 30 cm above the backrest when placed above a seat.

Material, finish and maintenance

Brass is the only material specified here, including the body and diffuser. A large metal surface shows marks: a dry microfibre cloth, wiped in the direction of the disc, is enough for maintenance. Avoid acidic products and abrasive sponges, which dull the metal.

Bulb and installation

Cavelen has an E14 socket, a small-diameter screw base, and the bulb is not included. As the diffuser is made of brass, choosing an opaque LED or filament bulb does not change the appearance when viewed from the front. The connection is fixed, to an existing cable outlet.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cavelen require a wide wall?

Yes. With a diameter of 46 cm, the disc needs an unobstructed section of wall to stand out. Allow at least 20 cm of margin on each side to avoid a cramped effect. However, the 12 cm projection remains modest, allowing it to be placed in a passageway.

What kind of light does a brass diffuser produce?

Brass is not translucent: the light comes out from the edges of the disc and reflects off the wall, creating a halo. The resulting lighting is indirect and soft, useful for creating ambiance, but it cannot replace a reading lamp directed at a book or work surface.

Which E14 bulb should I choose?

Choose an E14 screw bulb designed for 230 V mains, LED or filament. Warm white suits golden metal better than cool white, which makes it look greener. The bulb is not supplied with the wall light: buy it at the same time to avoid a second trip.

Can Cavelen be used outdoors?

No. The manufacturer specifies an IP 20 rating, with no protection against water, and for indoor use only. Neither rain nor the humidity of a covered terrace is covered by this rating. For an outdoor wall, choose a model whose numerical rating expressly covers this use.

For more

Discover metal finishes in our selection of wall lights.
