The body is made of brass and is available in a brass or white finish.

It projects 22 cm from the wall and stands 23 cm high—compact dimensions for a disc of this size.

Technical specifications

Dimensions: 35 cm diameter, 22 cm projection, 23 cm height

Body: brass

Available finishes: brass, white

Socket: E14

Bulb: not included

Where to install this wall light?

A 35 cm disc requires ample wall space: reserve Basis for a clear section of living room wall, a hallway wall, or above a double bed, rather than a narrow passageway. Its 22 cm projection remains moderate given its diameter.

General installation rule: centre the disc approximately 1.55 m above the floor on a living room wall, or at the upper third of the clear height if the ceiling is over 2.70 m, to prevent the shape from appearing too low.

Material, finish and care

The brass is worked into sheet metal and either left exposed or lacquered white. On the brass finish, fingerprints are visible on such a large surface: wipe it with a dry microfibre cloth from time to time. The white finish is cleaned in the same way, without solvents.

Bulb and installation

Basis takes an E14 bulb, not included. The manufacturer does not specify a maximum permitted wattage: a low-energy E14 LED is suitable and generates little heat behind a metal disc. The wall mount is fitted over a cable outlet, which should be located before drilling.

Frequently asked questions

How much wall space is required?

Allow for a disc 35 cm in diameter, with a 22 cm projection and 23 cm height. Plan at least 50 cm of clear wall width to let the shape stand out, and check that no tall furniture obstructs the 22 cm projection.

Brass or white: which finish to choose?

The brass finish catches the eye and works as a decorative feature on a light-coloured wall. The white finish blends into light-coloured paint and lets the volume speak for itself. Both have exactly the same dimensions and the same E14 socket.

Which E14 bulb is best for this size?

A warm white E14 LED, around 2700 K, is sufficient for ambient lighting. As the manufacturer does not specify a maximum wattage, stick with an LED rather than a halogen bulb. Also check the length of the bulb to ensure it does not protrude from the disc.

Is Basis suitable above a bed?

Above a double bed, yes: the 35 cm disc fits perfectly above the pillow and reflects the light upwards. For reading in bed, however, it is less focused than a wall light with an adjustable arm, whose beam can be directed at the page.

For more

Explore round shapes in our wall light catalogue.
