Its compact size of 20 by 15 cm allows it to fit between two picture frames or above a bedside table.

General installation rule: with the lampshade open towards the bottom, aim to mount it around 1.50 m above the floor so that the scalloped cut remains visible from a seated position.

Material, finish and care

Plant fiber is a living material: its shade may change slightly with exposure to daylight. Dust it dry with a soft brush or a low-power vacuum cleaner fitted with a brush attachment. Never use water, as it causes the fiber to swell and warp.

Bulb and installation

Alessio takes an E14 bulb, not included, with a maximum wattage of 15 W for incandescent bulbs or their LED equivalent. LED is preferable here: it produces very little heat, an important consideration when placed in close proximity to natural fiber.

Frequently asked questions

What bulb should I use near plant fiber?

An E14 LED bulb of approximately 2 to 4 W, equivalent to the stated 15 W incandescent bulb. It runs significantly cooler than a halogen bulb, which is important when placed next to a natural material. Choose warm white to enhance the beige tones of the fiber.

How do I clean a fiber lampshade?

Dry cleaning only. Run a dusting brush along the scallops or use a vacuum cleaner brush attachment set to the lowest power. Avoid water and household cleaning products: they can stain the fiber and cause the weave to loosen irreversibly.

Which base finish should I choose?

Black highlights the cut of the lampshade through contrast, while chrome provides a lighter, more discreet look on a white wall. The dimensions and socket are identical. Beige matches the shade of the fiber itself, which is the same for both versions.

Can Alessio be used as a wall-mounted bedside lamp?

Its 20 by 15 cm size makes it ideal for this purpose, freeing up space on the bedside table. The fiber keeps the light soft and pleasant in the evening, but it may not be bright enough for prolonged reading. In this case, use a bulb with a maximum wattage approved by the manufacturer.

Discover more

Discover the natural materials in our selection of wall lights.
