In practice, Lustra is at home on either side of an entrance door, on a boundary wall, or along a garage driveway.

The 31 cm version remains discreet on a narrow wall; the 39 cm version balances a tall facade or gate. General installation rule: aim for 1.90 to 2.10 m above the ground outdoors, high enough not to dazzle and out of direct reach.

Material, finish and maintenance

The body is made of black-painted iron, with glass panels. Iron requires a little monitoring near the sea or under a gutter: wipe away drips and treat any sign of rust as soon as it appears. The glass can be cleaned with soapy water, with the light fixture switched off.

Bulb and installation

The socket accepts E26 and E27 bases, the standard domestic format. You can use an LED for energy efficiency or an Edison filament bulb for the lantern's retro feel. The bulb is not supplied. The light fixture connects to a 110 to 240 V power supply and is controlled by a standard wall switch, not included.

Frequently asked questions

What does the IP65 rating mean for Lustra?

IP65 means protected against dust and water jets. Lustra can therefore withstand heavy rain on an exposed facade. However, the manufacturer specifies not to immerse it: it is not designed for prolonged contact with water or for installation flush with the ground in a flood zone.

Should I choose the 31 or 39 cm version?

The 31 cm version measures 18 cm wide and 15 cm deep: it is suitable for a passage wall or a standard-sized entrance. The 39 cm version, 21 cm wide, is designed for large facades and gates. Both share the same socket and black finish.

What bulb creates the retro lantern effect?

An Edison-style exposed filament bulb, E27, with a color temperature around 2200 to 2700 K. The glass reveals the filament, which becomes part of the decor. To reduce energy consumption, there are LED filament versions that provide the same visual appearance for far fewer watts.

Can Lustra be installed under a covered porch?

Yes, and that is actually the most sheltered location for it. A porch limits direct dripping onto the glass and keeps the lantern clean for longer. The IP65 rating also allows installation in windy conditions. In both cases, the connection is made through a waterproof cable entry.

Learn more

See also our full selection of wall lights.
