Allow 80 cm in height and 25 cm in diameter on either side of a bed or next to a reading chair.

General installation rule: fix the wall plate between 1.20 and 1.30 m above the floor at the head of the bed, so that the globe is at shoulder height when seated. Ensure there is a socket within 150 cm, the length of the cord.

Material, finish and care

The metal body is available in white, black or grey; the globe is always frosted white glass. The frosting softens the light from the G9 bulb, keeping the filament out of sight. Dust the glass with a microfibre cloth when the bulb is cool.

Bulb and installation

The socket is a G9 type and the bulb is not included: a G9 LED or filament bulb is suitable. No wiring is required, as the 150 cm cord plugs into a wall socket. Only the wall plate requires two wall plugs suitable for the mounting surface.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need an electrician to install Edan?

No. The lamp plugs into a power socket via a 150 cm cord, and its switch is located on the cord. The wall plate simply needs to be fixed to the wall using wall plugs suitable for the mounting surface. No cable outlet or recessed box is required.

Which G9 bulb should you choose?

The socket accepts both G9 LEDs and filament bulbs. For comfortable reading, a G9 LED with a colour temperature of 2700 or 3000 K remains the most common choice. A filament bulb produces a warmer light but heats the glass globe more. It is not included.

Can Edan be installed in a bathroom?

The manufacturer states that it has an IP20 rating and is for indoor use only, while also mentioning suitability for damp areas without specifying a higher protection rating. Without a confirmed IP44 rating, and because it is powered via a plug, Edan should be reserved for dry rooms: bedrooms, studies or reading corners.

Can the arm be adjusted after installation?

Yes, that is the design of the model: the arm extends and then folds back against the wall, allowing the globe to be brought close to a book before moving out of the way. It is adjusted by hand without tools. The cord follows the movement of the arm.

Which plug should you order for France?

Four types of plugs are available: European, British, American and Australian. In France, choose the European plug. The choice is made at the time of ordering and cannot be changed later; an adapter may be possible but will add bulk behind the furniture.

For more options

See other models that require no electrical work in our wall lamp collection.
