Its 23 cm diameter gives it a striking presence on a bare wall without overwhelming it.

General installation rule: around 1.60 m to 1.70 m above the floor in an entryway or living room. The IP20 rating requires a dry room, as does the natural fiber.

Material, finish and care

The hemp cord is woven over a metal frame and retains its natural ecru color. This type of fiber attracts dust: a feather duster now and then, or a vacuum cleaner set to its lowest setting with a brush attachment, will do the trick. Avoid water and household cleaning products.

Bulb and installation

Use an E26 or E27 bulb. An LED is the sensible choice here: it produces little heat, which is important with woven plant fiber surrounding the light source. The lamp is hardwired to a cable outlet and is switched on from the room's wall switch, which is not included.

Frequently asked questions

Which bulb should I choose for a hemp cord shade?

The lamp requires an E26 or E27 socket. Choose an LED: it produces little heat, unlike an incandescent bulb placed in contact with plant fiber. A warm white color enhances the natural golden hue of the hemp. Our customer service team can advise you on the appropriate wattage for your room.

How do I clean a woven shade?

Clean it dry and with the lamp switched off. A feather duster or soft brush is enough for surface dust; a vacuum cleaner set to its lowest setting with a brush attachment will reach into the crevices of the strands. Avoid water and detergents, which stain and deform the fiber. Snip off any loose strands with scissors rather than pulling them out.

Can this hemp model be used in a damp room?

No. The stated IP20 rating provides no protection against water and is for indoor use only. Moisture also damages plant fibers, causing them to swell and stain. Keep this light fixture in a dry room: a living room, bedroom, entryway or office, and never outdoors, even under a porch.

Does the wall lamp come with a cord and plug?

No, the manufacturer specifies hardwired installation. You will therefore need a cable outlet in the wall, and the lamp will be switched on by a standard wall switch, which is not included. If the intended location does not have an electrical supply, it is best to have one installed or choose a model supplied with a cord and plug.

Discover more

Plant- and mineral-based materials can also be found in our selection of wall lamps.
