As the housing does not swivel and the cable is not adjustable, the direction of the light must be decided once and for all when marking out the installation.

General installation rule: when mounted horizontally, place it 2 m above the floor over a mirror; when mounted vertically along a bed, position the center of the housing at approximately 1.30 m, within easy reach from the mattress.

Material, finish and care

The wood provides the color and texture, while the metal gives the fixture its rigidity. A dark wood will show light dust more than a pale veneer: dusting it occasionally with a dry feather duster is enough. Avoid soaking cloths and household cleaners, which can leave marks on wooden surfaces.

Bulb and installation

No bulb to buy: the SMD LED is built into the housing and included. The three-color temperature version is switched from the wall switch, according to the manufacturer's instructions. It is hardwired to a fixed outlet, and installation requires assembly during fitting.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose the three-color temperature version?

It makes sense in a multi-purpose room. A bedroom that also serves as a workspace benefits from switching from warm light in the evening to a more neutral light during the day. If the wall light is only used for ambient lighting, the fixed warm version is sufficient and simplifies the wall switch.

Can the wood withstand the heat from the LED?

An SMD LED generates little heat compared to a filament bulb, and the manufacturer has designed this housing to combine wood and metal. Simply leave the diffuser face unobstructed, without fabric or a curtain placed against it, so that air can circulate behind the light fixture as intended.

Can it be mounted horizontally or vertically?

The rectangular housing can be installed in either orientation, with the choice made during installation depending on the cable outlet. When mounted horizontally, it creates a band above a piece of furniture or a mirror. When mounted vertically, it complements a bed post or a door. The orientation is fixed once installed.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

The manufacturer states an IP44 rating, which protects against water splashes, but only lists the living room and bedroom as recommended rooms. Installation in a ventilated wet room, away from the shower, is therefore possible, bearing in mind that wood ages better in a dry room.

For more options

Other woods are available in our wall light catalog.
