It is therefore suitable above a bedside table, along a narrow corridor or on either side of a bookcase, while its small diameter ensures it does not obstruct eye level.

General installation rule: aim to position the mounting plate at around 1.45 m above the floor at the head of a bed, and closer to 1.80 m in a passageway to keep the walkway clear.

Material, finish and care

The body combines metal and iron with walnut-effect wood and PU detailing. The wood finish should be cleaned with a dry cloth, without water or household cleaning products. The diffuser should be cleaned separately once the bulb has cooled. The clear and amber versions show fingerprints more easily.

Bulb and installation

The socket is a pin G9, and the LED or filament bulb is not included. The wiring is fixed and requires a pre-installed cable outlet. Depending on the configuration, the light can be controlled by a standard wall switch, not included, or by a pull cord.

Frequently asked questions

Which diffuser shade should I choose?

White distributes the light evenly and conceals the bulb. Clear shows the filament and creates more contrast. Amber warms the perceived colour, while smoked grey darkens it and reduces the perceived intensity. All four versions have the same dimensions and G9 socket.

Which G9 bulb should I use?

Choose a pin G9 bulb designed for 230 V mains power, with LED or filament technology. Check that the length of the bulb is compatible with a 14 cm diameter diffuser. The light source is not included, so buy it before installation when access is easier from the floor.

Is Cimararae suitable for a bathroom?

No. The manufacturer states that it has an IP 20 rating, with no protection against water and for indoor use only. This rating does not allow exposure to water splashes. Therefore, use this model in a bedroom, living room, entrance hall or corridor, and choose a light with a suitable IP rating for a room with water.

Can it be switched on without a wall switch?

The manufacturer states that it is compatible with pull cord switches as well as standard wall switches. In both cases, the wiring remains fixed, and the wall light must be connected to an electrical supply. If there is no cable outlet at the desired location, have one installed by an electrician before installation.

Discover more

Our wooden models are available in our wall light catalogue.
