It can therefore be placed in narrow spaces, between a door and a corner, along a staircase, or in a symmetrical pair around a mirror or console table.

General installation rule: the 80 cm version requires a generous ceiling height; install its base approximately 1 m above the floor so that it does not touch the skirting board or cornice. For the 50 cm version, centre the column at around 1.55 m. Its advertised illumination area of 5 to 6 m² makes it ideal for ambient lighting.

Material, finish and care

The diffuser is made of genuine alabaster, which is translucent and unpredictably veined: when switched off, it appears opaque and mineral; when lit, its veining becomes visible through the stone. The structure is made of matte black wrought iron. Dust the stone with a dry cloth or a soft brush, without using detergent.

Bulb and installation

No bulb is required: the 20 W LED is integrated into the column and supplied with the wall light. The standard voltage is 220 V. The 80 cm version is naturally heavier than the 50 cm version: check the type of wall and use suitable fixings for a hollow partition.

Frequently asked questions

Which Eldur height should I choose?

Start with the available height of your wall. The 50 cm version remains discreet above a low cabinet. The 60 cm version is the most common compromise next to a bed. The 80 cm version becomes an architectural feature and requires a ceiling height of at least 2.50 m so as not to overwhelm the wall.

Does Eldur provide enough light for an entire room?

The manufacturer states that each wall light covers 5 to 6 m². This is the size of a hallway or a corner of a bedroom, not an entire living room. Use it to complement a ceiling light, or install two facing each other to balance the light across two opposite walls.

Why does alabaster produce an amber light?

The stone is not of uniform thickness: light passes more easily through the thinner areas and takes on a warmer hue as it passes through the mineral veins. The result is a nuanced glow that is warmer at the centre of the column, rather than the flat appearance of an opal glass diffuser.

Should I choose the black or gold structure?

Both finishes complement the same column. The matte black iron accentuates the outline and stands out against a light-coloured wall. The gold finish blends into the warm tones of the stone and is less noticeable once the wall light is switched on. The choice is aesthetic and does not affect the dimensions.

Discover more

Browse our wall light catalogue.
